Where Your Money Goes


Funds raised through the annual Community Campaign go to programs that align with Cincinnati 2020, our community's vision for the year 2020, of a welcoming Jewish Cincinnati that provides an exceptional quality of life for every one of us. Cincinnati 2020 encompasses three pillars--Caring, Connecting and Discovering--which reflect what have always been our community's priorities.


2015 Funding for "Discovering" Programs = $941,600

Rockwern Academy
A premiere Jewish day school focused on academic excellence since 1952 (formerly Yavneh Day School); students, families and teachers join together to create a culture of excellence, reflected by our teachers, programs, curriculum and our commitment to fostering a love of Jewish life and learning.

2015 Funding = $329,000


Cincinnati Hebrew Day School
An Orthodox school that offers Jewish children quality instruction in both secular and Judaic studies; its dual curriculum is designed to emphasize scholastic achievement, strong moral character and a commitment to Jewish identity and religious observance.


2015 Funding = $250,000


Synagogue Education Excellence Directive (SEED)
Enables local congregations to hire a designated worker to provides classes, workshops, programs and events on Jewish culture, issues, celebrations, history, texts and more.

2015 Funding = $191,000


Camp at the J, Camp Chabad, Camp Ashreinu
Provide local Jewish youth with experiences that build community, character-building, skill development, and healthy living - all in a fun, participatory, safe and inclusive environment.

2015 Funding = $60,000


Holocaust Awareness Programs
(
Center for Holocaust and Humanity Education)

An annual series of community-wide events, including films, lectures, commemorations, theatrical performances, exhibits, and educator workshops, designed to educate about the Holocaust.

  • United Nations Day of Holocaust Remembrance Concert/Dance
  • Youth Leadership Summit: About 100 7th-8th graders learn to become positive leaders; keynote speakers are humanitarian aid workers who serve in Rwanda
  • Commemoration of Yom HaShoah (Holocaust Remembrance Day)
  • Educator Workshops
  • Reach for the Stars: B'nai Mitzvah students and their peers in Netanya, Israel, learn together

Taglit-Birthright Israel
Provides Jewish young adults with a first-time, peer group Israel experience that strengthens Jewish identity, Jewish communities and solidarity.

Camp Livingston
Enriches the lives of young people with a fun, unique, communal Jewish camping experience. It encourages the development of Jewish identity, enables the formation of lifelong friendships and provides opportunities to participate in a wide variety of challenging recreational and creative programming within a safe and inclusive environment.

2015 Funding = $20,000


Lichter Lecture Series
(
University of Cincinnati Judaic Studies Department)
Provides UC students and the Cincinnati community with outstanding lectures in the area of Jewish studies, which play a vital part in opening new horizons to a diverse population both on and off campus.

2015 Funding = $7,500


Summer Intern Program (Workum Fund)
Provides college students with eight-week paid internships in Jewish communal agencies throughout greater Cincinnati.

2015 Funding = $9,500


Jewish Education for Adults with Disabilities
(
JEEP and Halom House)

Provides Jewish experiences and education tailored to the needs and abilities of adults with disabilities, including weekly Shabbat or holiday programs.

2015 Funding = $3,600


Grinspoon-Steinhardt Award for Excellence in Jewish Education
Recognizes, honors and supports outstanding Jewish classroom educators on the local level.
